The Presbyterian Church of Ghana is an evangelical church in Ghana which adheres to Calvinism. It has more than 77,000 members and over 600 congregations nationwide. The church was formed in 1962 with the union of two independent churches, namely the Presbyterian Union of West Africa and the Presbyterian Church of Central Africa. Our constitution will be sent to you on request I am Miss Asmah Amankwanam & this is my email address (asmah@yahoo.com). I belong to Presbyterian Church in Ghana. I want to know the contents of my constitution. I also want to know my church constitution which was written in 2008. My church constitution says that our church is based on the Westminster Confession of Faith and Larger Catechism. It also says that our church is governed by the Word of God. The Christian doctrine is our only basis. This is the only thing I need . The contents of my constitution are as follows:- Presbyterian Church of Ghana ConstitutionThe Presbyterian Church of Ghana Constitution is a Constitutional Document for the Churches that are associate with it - Catholic, Anglican, Dutch Reformed Churches etc. There are other Churches in Ghana but not associated with the Presbyterian Church of Ghana . Their own Constitutions are being prepared so they can carry out their functions as churches. Thus Presbyterian Church of Ghana Constitution document has been prepared for the purpose to guide all their acts and affairs which are within its jurisdiction. This Constitution is based on the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Larger Catechism, the Shorter Catechism, the Church of Scotland's Acts of Assembly Act 1592 and Acts of Assembly Act 1800. It is also based on Doctrine and Doctrine of the Church of Scotland . So Presbyterian Church in Ghana has its own Constitution. It does not follow any other Constitution except that Westminster Confession of Faith, Larger Catechism and Shorter catechism. The Synod or officers can propose amendments to this constitution by a two-thirds majority vote at every ordinary Session of Synod. The revised document will be revised in the same manner. This constitution came into effect in 1990. Our Constitution is summarised below: 1. Acknowledging that Jesus Christ is the only Head of the Church; all activities of the Presbyterian Church are in accordance with His revealed will in Holy Scripture; and that they are not intended to do anything contrary to His Word, or beyond the sphere of what He has appointed for it (1 Corinthians 11:3).2.
